I have a bake sale this weekend and I am so excited to bring a few different goodies. The biggest question I had to ask myself was, “What catches my eye when I see goodies?”
Rice kripsy treats came to mind immediately. Even better, they are so easy to make and can be made in so many ways – wonderful!
Mini-marshmallows and sprinkles made these goodies bake-sale ready.
Normally when I make rice kripsy treats, I eat about 3/4 of the pan without even thinking about it. It was very difficult to keep my hands off of them!
They look so yummy as they wait to be taken to the bake sale!
Marshmallows & Sprinkles Krispy Treats
You will need:
4 tablespoons of softened butter
1 package of large marshmallows
1/3 to 1/2 package of mini-marshmallows
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
6 cups of rice krispy cereal
Pour the 6 cups of rice krispies into a large mixing bowl. Spray a baking pan with non-stick cooking spray. The baking pan size will depend on how thick you want your treats. For thicker treats, use a smaller pan.
Melt the 4 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the package of large marshmallows and stir often while they melt. Watch so that the marshmallow mixture does not burn. When the marshmallows are almost all melted add the vanilla and stir in. Turn off the heat and pour the mixture over the rice kripsies.
Quickly stir the mixture to coat most of it then add the mini-marshmallows. Finishing combining and then pour the sticky yummy mixture into your baking pan. Coat the back of a large plastic cooking spoon or plastic baggie with cooking spray. If using the plastic baggy, slip your hand inside. The press the mixture down into the pan to fill all of the gaps and make it a nice solid treat.
Let cool, then cut into squares.
